As the 2024-25 training year commences, you may notice some changes to 1nelson.ca. We are in the process of transitioning this website into primarily acting as a recruiting and public affairs tool aimed mainly at those who are not currently members of RCSCC Nelson (including those interested in joining), while simultaneously moving our internal communications for existing cadets and their parents/guardians to rely more on use of email and the Cadet365 platform. This may mean that some parts of 1nelson.ca which you may be used to seeing are no longer visible as we begin the new training year, and you will notice the "Under Construction" sign on the front page while we work on reconfiguring the website.
This change is in keeping with the latest Cadet Program national policies and has been planned for some time. Schedule information will still be delivered by email notice and in the Monthly Routine Orders to start the year, and those notices will still be sent to all the email addresses provided by the cadet and their parent/guardian at registration (including email addresses outside Cadet365, such as Gmail). Paper handouts will continue to be sent home regularly with important information. We are also working on getting a publicly viewable newsletter page on the 365 platform "Sway" up and running soon, which will further replace some former functions of this website such as sharing activity schedules and announcements at a permanent web address. If you need to submit a Leave Request or a Supply Request, those forms still exist on 1nelson.ca right now, and you can click on their names in this sentence to access them - they are just no longer being highlighted on our home page and in the menu. The eventual plan is to replace those webpages with Microsoft Forms hosted through Cadet365. Cadets and their parents/guardians can also always make requests for Leave or Supply at any time by simply emailing [email protected], which will remain our primary point-of-contact email address for all corps news, questions and inquiries. Please be sure to clearly identify yourself and/or the cadet with whom you are associated in any emails you send. Thank you for your patience as we update our communications strategy! We are all looking forward to another exciting training year. 😊 Regards, SLt Olivia Jack Social Media Officer, RCSCC 1 Nelson
