Pipes

Listen to some of the different pipes you may hear aboard NELSON and learn what they mean.
The General Call is used to prior to any out of routine broadcast to get the ship's company attention.
When you hear it be quiet and listen.
The side is used when the following people arrive aboard a HMC Ship or RCSCC:

1. Royalty
2. Flag/General Officers
3. CO of a HMC Ship or RCSCC arrives aboard

The still is used to call all hands to attention as marks of respect or to order silence.
The Carry on follows the still to indicate that the Ship's Company may , Carry On.
Hands to dinner is piped for lunch and no other meal.
Pipe down is made at the end of the day to indicate the start of silent hours.
Wakey Wakey is made in the morning to wake up the Ship's Company signifying the end of silent hours and the start of the normal daily routine.
