What do we do at the Corps?

The Sea Cadet Corps Program is primarily focused on maritime activities derived from the Canadian Navy and the civilian maritime community. It is comprised of the following established Sea cadet activities as well as activities common to the Sea, Army and Air cadet programs:

Sea Cadet Activities:
  • Seamanship/Rope Work; 
  • Sailing;
  • Small Craft Operations;
  • Ship Operations; and
  • Royal Canadian Navy and Civilian Maritime Community Familiarization

Common Cadet Activities:
  • General Cadet Knowledge;
  • Drill & Ceremonial Training;
  • Leadership;
  • Instructional Techniques; 
  • Community Service; 
  • Cultural education/Travel;
  • Citizenship;
  • Personal fitness and Healthy living;
  • Recreational sports; 
  • Air Rifle Marksmanship;
  • Biathlon;
  • Music - Military Band; and
  • Positive Social Relations for Youth Training 


What opportunities do you have?

​Cadets have extra opportunities to enhance their learning with CTC (Cadet Training Centres) in the summer and International Exchanges to various places across the world (both free of charge).

  • Basic Seamanship (Three weeks)
  • Boatswain's Mate (Three weeks)
  • Basic Drill and Ceremonial (Three weeks)
  • Basic Fitness and Sports (Three weeks)
  • Basic Musician (Three weeks)
  • Intermediate Sail (Six weeks)
  • Ships Boat Operator (Six weeks)
  • Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor (Six weeks)
  • Drill and Ceremonial Instructor (Six weeks)
  • Fitness and Sports Instructor (Six weeks)
  • Intermediate Musician (Six weeks)
  • Sail Instructor (Six weeks)
  • Advanced Musician (Six weeks)
  • Advanced Sail (Six weeks)
